Getting into the swing of things

Time and Awareness

They may seem like non-sensical entites when placed together, but I don' think that they are.

I think that without time we cannot grasp at awareness, and without awareness we cannot be made aware of the precious little time we have.

Practising an increased sense of self awareness can lead to better use of your time.

It's really simple, yet how do often do moments, weeks, years shoot by?

When you're taking that next sip, linger with it for a moment longer, let it be your universe for a second or two.

Be aware of your time.

What do you find you need to be more aware of to use your time better?

A Voice

Bounce Cafe was intended to be the place where the shared love of coffee would meet across tables and the muse of our lives passion would gently and easily pass from our lips to others of like mind.

It's been a while since that plan. It's a very good plan, it just seems that the day to day gets in the way, so this blog will now serve as the 'face to face' where the passion and the layouts of lives will unfold. You just have to sip your coffee by yourself. Not as much fun for sure.

The truth is that I enjoy helping people, I want to be instructional in millions of peoples lives, and if I keep waiting for the right plan, the right time, the right right, then what good will I do anyone.

So this is the plan. Just get on with it. Start. Be present. Let go. This blog will evolve into...something more, and if bounce cafe takes off in a cafe, with others, I will post about it.

The goal is a simple one. Start sharing. What can you share with me?

Getting it right

I have always tried to get 'it' right.
If I have feel I can't get it right I have often left it, gone around it, over-thought it.
If I had known this was such a common issue I would have tried a shit load more a long time ago.
Now I am.
It works.
Get out there.

What's your manifesto?

Where do you sit in the scheme of things?
Are you happy? Sad? Numb?
Weeks can pass by without them barely being noticed.
If another year passed and you never looked up what would you miss the most?
I am here, living each day, and my manifesto is to claim each day as mine.

Silence

The days come and go like wildfire.

It's a rush, a blindsided affair and another week passes.

In the moments between the rushing there are gaps that hold silence.

It is in the rush that squeezing aside the air and diving into the silence we can create peaceful interludes.

Slowing down.

Watching.

The Bounce at Bounce Cafe

Coming Soon

The Bounce

So what's it all about? Why the name? Why are you seeing this?

I have wanted to set up an informal, full of laughter, casual yet specifically focused, regular get together with people who invigorate me for a few years now. And so here we are, this is it ... and it's called The Bounce.

I have named it The Bounce, in ‘Bounce Cafe,’ because when I get together with a fellow bouncer on the other side of a coffee table it's a whole new plane we exist in. The coffee arrives, the beats chill the mood and set a white noise ambiance, the words start flowing, the conversation becomes animated and that's when the ideas flow.

We are Bouncing, shooting and mingling ideas across vast spaces, we are alive, electricity flies between us and the world stops. I love it.

To be in this continual state of connection, of mind-on-mind engagement, through the process of talking, sharing, building, reaching, setting new heights, laughing, designing vision is a purpose. It’s such a powerful state that creates joint visions where connection at multiple levels occurs. The Bounce is the next step.

Nature shows us how to grow by being persistent and utilising its innermost purpose. Through shared passions I believe we can nurture our purposes, and grow as large and as far as we can see and feel, just like the lessons nature shows us every day.

That's The Bounce and that's what I want to create with all of you who come along. We may or may not have Bounced one-on-one, it does not matter. What matters is that we Bounce together now.

To me the cafe is the modern day boardroom of the free thinker who wants space to be themselves and creatively just 'be', a sacred place where navy pin striped suits and highly branded latex cycling clothes (this counts me in) mingle in perfect harmony.

I think that by looking at a few themes or ideas per Bounce we will create threads that will unite us no matter the industry you come from, no matter if you are an entrepreneur, business owner, free thinker, avid reader, senior manager or just a great coffee drinker. You are welcome to join in the fun and laughter of The Bounce as it grows. On this I'd like to impose one rule though; this is a place to talk and to share ideas, to Bounce. No non-Bouncers are allowed.

I see great value in making this not only a space for all of us to meet new people who can actually think (... it is amazing but it is true that some people do think, frequently, and as you are one of them you are most welcome ...) but to also expand our knowledge and ideas and interpretations on what we may do all day, how we think and what we think, by discussing topics relevant to all of us so we can gain the most from it to grow and become better than yesterday, to have powerful futures, to be grateful of all we have, to be wealthier in money and in life.

I believe we all deserve to be part of something bigger, to connect with clever like minded passionate individuals from all walks of life and Bounce those thoughts and ideas together. The coffee and the cafe provide the natural place to unite.

So how will we work this?

For starters this is to be monthly, and we'll see how it works after that. If it becomes a fortnightly thing all the better.

I have a mind to make this invite only. To have it open to only those who set the vision in companies, to those who own a company, to those who run companies, to those who leverage off staff to be successful. The rest will flow, I have faith.

The vision of Bounce Cafe is to share on a non-commercially orientated basis how things work in your neck of the woods. Bounce Cafe is not about swapping business cards. Its peer to peer discussions around topics applicable to all of us, no matter the industry.

And of course a cafe is the perfect setting to let the ideas flow while wrapping your hand around a steaming cup of coffee.

August is Bounce Cafe time.

Those who know this know of Cafe Wisdom.

And all of this over a cup of coffee! It's my favourite pastime.

Share your ideas of dates to meet.

Let's Bounce.

It takes only a moment

I had an epiphany tonight while driving.

I was considering the power of a moment. And how a moment, a single shred of a second, can change everything. That happened today, this morning, a most wonderful day, the day our daughter Claudia was born.

The moment her little pale head popped out of my wifes tummy, screamed, and emerged a fully qualified daughter, changed the way I knew I would interact with the world.

Her "What the hell is this place" attitude was a powerhouse of awesomeness.

It struck me tonight in that moment, that a moment is all it takes to change the outcome of a life. If the moment is powerful enough, and you are present enough to capture its messages at the time, life can be new and exciting and changed in a second.

The worthiness of me in this life and my ability to design my life my way is far more prevelant now than it was years ago. Why? Because based my ability to watch the world around me, and to act upon that watching, that creates opportunities to build on, and from, and too.

That's why the Bounce Cafe commencement will work, crying screaming pooing baby and all.

"Time waits for no man" said Mark Twain, well close to that anyway and since I never met Mark I cannot either confirm or deny this statement.

New Dad, very excited since the birth was only at 9.44am this very morning, and very excited Mum, wish publicly our new bunny all the best for her most awesome life to come.

Travel and the vision of The Bounce - thought 1

We've just returned from our 6 day escape to Singapore, a brief yet impactful holiday, filled with plenty of walking and sight seeing, too many shopping malls, so many Starbucks, and almost all of the people we saw were smiley friendly people.

With my eyes wide open on this trip, looking for clues as to what others do in these parts of the world, I felt more than ever that the majority of us are linked together in a mass of non-linked confusion, leading seperate lives towards a goal that no one knows nor really cares to know.

It's very much a Shakespearean scenario. You know the lines: All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts.

I get that impression more and more. It's like we get up, work or play or eat or read or drink or have sex, turn that part of us on at that tiny moment, then immediately turn it off again. And that turned off state is most of our lives. Sad eyes and lack lustre attitudes tell us that 'the switch is now off, please come back at a more convenient time that suits me, not you.'

There was a guy we met on the MRT (local trains) who was holding a book called The Element. I asked about it, as I do, and Paul expained the books purpose is to discuss how we discover our purpose. Brilliant. This was not a coincidence that he was holding the book. Paul happens to be the co-founder of Qi Global, a social enterprise business that is designed to inspire people to think and act more progressively with deeper social and environmental considerations towards how we live, work and play in a future world. Paul, if he were not living in Singapore, would be a perfect Bounce invitee. I'm hoping to have him join the blog and share some ideas. He is a Thinker. I bought the book the next day. It's by Ken Robinson (or Sir Ken as Paul called him.)

The Bounce is about people like Paul, a "turning on" of the stream of thoughts we all have access to but rarely invite into our minds, and a getting away from the switched off lives. A coming together intended to grow through the sharing of higher ideas, to have Thinkers Thoughts.
